Setagaya-ku, Tokyo and surrounds.

Ever since high school, Mayu has been independently studying women’s healing including crystal and gemstone healing and color/aura work and reiki.  She has a certificate in flower essences consulting  and a Holistic Health practitioner certificate.

Meditation was a natural part of her life since childhood, with her grandfather being a naturopathic healer and martial artist.  Mayus grandmother was an educator as is her mother – seems like the healer/educator spirit of her ancestry is passionately alive in her.

As a therapist, her approach has always been person-centered.  She believes that she is a confident and caring facilitator, and  can fully be in the moment while allowing the clients their own space and time to reach a healthier state of mind and spirit.  She loves being with people and sharing her skills and love for life with them.

Why did you become a facilitator?

The biggest reason: it feels so RIGHT! Even through cyberspace, I can feel Anita, Michelle and Luanne’s positive vibrations (and all the women who are making a difference), and I wholly trust my instincts that I am making the right decision.

I think the playshops match what I do in my music therapy and healing work so perfectly, and I am really motivated to do this in Japan, where I feel that there is such a lack of support for women.

I know that nothing is a coincidence.  I deliberately chose to be a woman in this lifetime so that I could help others get in touch with their greater, lovable selves.  Music has always helped me through the toughest times, and I had never felt happier than when I found my calling to be a music therapist.  Now that feeling is back!  I am so excited to delve into the world of Goddess love, helping women get in touch with themselves and the universe.

As a therapist, my approach has always been person-centered.  I believe that I am a confident and caring facilitator most of the time, and I can fully be in the moment while allowing the clients their own space and time to reach a healthier state of mind and spirit.  I love being with people and sharing my skills and love for life with them.

What else do you do?

I am a trained and certified music therapist.  During my training, I had spiritual experiences everyday through making music with the most unbelievably amazing individuals – the same individuals who were shunned, ridiculed, discriminated, and swept away into the cracks of society due to their dis-eases and “inability” to function “normally” in society.  I worked for the Community Music Center of Boston, Massachusetts, where I was sent out to numerous facilities all around the city.  This included creating and facilitating a women’s music therapy program at a homeless shelter; a teenage mothers and babies’ group at a DV shelter; individual and group sessions with adults with developmental disabilities; nursing homes for seniors with dementia; the emergency ward at a psychiatric hospital, and the pediatric unit at a hospital for terminally ill children.  Magical, miraculous things happened so often from being so in tune and being connected with the clients, who often times were much more aware of their true selves than the so-called “normal-functioning” rest of us.
